A Walk/Jog to End Animal Cruelty

Register for Dog Jog and stand up against animal cruelty in our community by helping fund the much-needed programs for the thousands of animals Calgary Humane Society cares for every year.

As Calgary’s only open-admission shelter, we never turn any animal away, and this means one simple thing; we never say no, we never turn an animal away. When they need us, we respond.

Join us at South Glenmore Park on June 1st, 2019 for a scenic walk/jog along marked 2.5km or 5km paved routes along Weaselhead Trail.

Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $100 ($150 for a family) to help fund life-saving programs at Calgary Humane Society. To celebrate and appreciate your efforts, we invite you to join us at our dog-friendly walk/jog and festivities on June 1st.

NEW THIS YEAR: The day's activities (including the walk or jog) will be restricted to those who have registered and reached their fundraising commitments only. If you wish to have your family and friends participate with you, they must register as an individual or family. Walk-ons will not be permitted so be sure to register in advance!

Grab a bite to eat from local food trucks or a refreshing beer from the folks at Wild Rose Brewery in our dog-friendly, all-age food + beverage garden called the Mutt & Mingle. Shop for goodies in the Barkingville Market, visit the bouncy castles in the Kids Zone or direct your pooch to the "Paw Spa" for some pampering; we have something planned for everyone!

Our fundraising goal for this event is $130,000!  Last year, we saw over 400 Dog Jog participants and over 600 dogs who collectively raised over $116,000!

Safety Advisory Regarding Air Quality and Heat

We want to make this a fun and safe event for everyone participating. With the high temperatures predicted for Saturday, June 1st and the potential for air quality risks due to the High Level wildfires, we’re asking participants to stay mindful of your own (and your dog’s) health & safety.

Animals who suffer from respiratory, cardiovascular disease or eye conditions like dry eye may be more likely to show adverse effects from the poor air quality. Certain dog breeds that exhibit short, broad snouts (brachycephalic) would also be considered at risk of heat stroke and side effects from poor air quality  (i.e., Pug, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Bullmastiff, Bulldog, etc.)

Please Remember To:

  • Wear sunscreen and bring a hat.
  • Keep an eye on the Government of Canada Air Quality Health Index so you can make an informed decision for you and your pet.
  • Stay hydrated! We will have a water bottle re-fill station and many dog water bowls throughout the event.
